AIRBRUSH THINNING RATIOS:
Ok, so I talk about a 3:2 ratio or a 2:1 ratio, or a 1:1 ratio... well, depending on your location, humidity, paint, airbrush, etc. you may have to adjust your ratio of paint/thinning agent appropriately. Now, I've had a chance to work with all sorts of paints and primarily I use Windex to thin my acrylic paints for airbrushing. If I have to use enamels, I buy the same brand of thinner.
So, if you need to adjust carefully how you are thinning, here's the drops/ratios laid out for you all the way from 1:1 to 3:1.
| Ratio (Paint:Thinning Agent) |
Drops |
| 1:1 | 1:1 |
| 1.25:1 | 5:4 |
| 1.50:1 | 3:2 |
| 1.75:1 | 7:4 |
| 2:1 | 2:1 |
| 2.25:1 | 9:4 |
| 2.50:1 | 5:2 |
| 2.75:1 | 11:4 |
| 3:1 | 3:1 |
I did this because while I travel and paint in different areas, I know I have to adjust my ratios sometimes. Anyway, I hope this helps those that may be in a different area/climate/environment. Good luck!
